Kercheval Engineering Australia provides engineering and cartographic consultancy services to the transport and resources industry with a particular focus on collaboration and supporting trusted partnerships.

We firmly believe that we can add real value to your asset, considering whole of life aspects, by being directly engaged in the total project development process. Our senior professionals have significant experience in their respective fields and can provide guidance during the project development and design stage, which should translate into “Value for Money” outcomes. This project approach guidance is supported by a dedicated and appropriately skilled design delivery team.

We are WA based and are passionate about working in metro and regional areas of Western Australia. Our services support the development of civil and structural infrastructure, which are critical to economic growth for the public and private sector clients alike.

Adding strong technical skills to ensure projects are delivered successfully with positive outcomes such as upskilling your staff, facilitating repeat business by developing lasting relationships with clients and creating an environment which is collaborative, safe, healthy and enjoyable.

Francoise is the founding member and managing director of KEAust, as well as a civil engineer with a specialisation in drainage and waterways studies and designs.  She supports the planning and delivery of projects through her diverse skills and experience, particularly working closely with key decision-makers.

Francoise is strong in the technical delivery of projects as well as managing and supporting the development of individuals and teams in her area of expertise.  She has strengths in hydrologic and hydraulic modelling of stormwater systems associated predominantly with linear infrastructure such as railway and roads.

Francoise is also well familiar with AustRoads and Main Roads WA technical requirements for drainage and waterways designs and modelling, through her extensive involvement with various senior waterways engineers from Main Roads WA. She has led drainage teams on major projects such as the $1.3B Bunbury outer ring road (BORR), various projects on the Main Roads WA ETS panel and supported several resources projects with drainage designs.

Deon Viljoen

Director

Deon joined as a director in KEAust since 2018, after fulfiling highways team lead roles, for AECOM and Aurecon (Perth offices) respectively, for a period of 5 years each.

He also served as the consultant’s contract manager on the Main Roads WA ETS panel, for a period of 8 years, overseeing the delivery of more than 300 smaller infrastructure projects – these projects not only covered core highway design, but included supporting technical inputs such as geotechnical, utilities assessments, lighting and electrical designs, environmental constraints, barriers, road signs and marking etc.

His technical specialisation is transportation engineering, with a focus on road design. During the last 5 years, he fulfiled the role of design manager for large major transport projects in Perth, ie. the $1.3B Bunbury outer ring road – BORR (area manager – south) and design manager for the Intelligent Freeway Alliance, smart freeways mitchell south.

He has also been closely involved in road and civil designs for a number of mining companies.

Karl is a senior project manager / civil engineer with over 20 years’ post graduate engineering experience across state government, local government and mining.

He started his career as a quantity surveyor but later qualified as a civil engineer. Karl works extensively with Main Roads WA as a development project manager where his responsibilities include the coordination of geometrical design, drainage design, geotechnical investigations, heritage approvals, environmental approvals, forecasting, budgets, tendering. 

Karl has also worked in project delivery and contract administration and has a broad range of experience in the planning and delivery of projects.

Riaan has over twenty-six years of post-graduate expertise in civil engineering projects, specifically focusing on infrastructure projects.

His technical expertise lies in road and highway design and related project management skills. He has an in-depth understanding of engineering standards and specifications. 

He has the ability to effectively manage a project team, ensuring the achievement of project objectives, adherence to target deadlines, and ensuring project financial health.

Herman has more than twenty-seven years of consulting experience in civil engineering related infrastructure projects.

His technical skill set includes water and sanitation design and project management with a good understanding of engineering policies, specifications, and standards.

Herman’s role as the lead design engineer/manager is also to ensure that all work is done according to sound engineering principles, specifications and requirements as per the client’s brief.

Attie’s career as civil engineer has included various civil construction supervision projects in both Australia and South Africa.

Experience gained in the above area has included contract administration, construction program management and quality control.  Attie’s past key responsibilities with regards to construction supervision and contract administration relate to a range of civil services including earthworks, roads, storm water drainage, water supply and sanitation.

Ansia has 10 years’ post-graduate experience in various infrastructure projects from inception to close-out. 

Her experience focuses transportation projects, specialising in traffic impact assessments, access management plans, traffic signal design and intersection design. 

Ansia also has experience in municipal infrastructure design, including water, sewer and stormwater design.  She has conducted planning studies, feasibility studies and detail design and implementation for all services mentioned.

Countries of work experience include South Africa, Australia, Uganda, Tristan da Cunha, the United Kingdom and Lesotho.

Senior Waterways and Drainage Engineer

Chris has more than nineteen years of post-graduate experience in various infrastructure projects from inception to close-out.

His technical skill set includes roads and stormwater infrastructure planning, detail design and infrastructure analysis with a good understanding of engineering policies, standards and policy frameworks. His experience focusses on infrastructure planning and design, and specialised surface water modelling. 

This includes planning studies, feasibility studies, master planning, infrastructure assessments and risk planning/management. 

Chris has also detail design experience in surface water management, which includes flood hazard assessments, attenuation and retention design, sustainable drainage design, flood remediation and implementation. 

Working within a GIS environment, both within ArcGIS and QGIS, Chris also has experience in infrastructure data capture and management.

Susan has more than eight years of post-graduate experience in various infrastructure projects from inception to close-out. 

Her main expertise lies in hydrology, hydraulic modelling and stormwater drainage.  Her recent experience includes the design of drainage and waterways for Main Roads WA.

Her expertise covers road and rail drainage design, stormwater system modelling, as well as urban and rural stormwater hydrology.

Rynardt Vogel

Rynardt is a civil engineer with experience in road and civil design, utilities’ investigations and relocation strategies, water network modelling as well general earthworks modelling. 

He has gained valuable hands-on experience working closely with senior engineers and project managers on various transportation and infrastructure projects ensuring that all plans and specifications meet with Australian standards and project objectives. 

Through these experiences he has also developed a strong project management capability.

Danie du Toit is a professional engineering technologist with 23 years’ experience in preliminary and detail geometric design of single and dual carriageway roads, interchanges, intersections, road rehabilitation and storm water drainage.

His responsibilities include planning and design of projects, contracts engineer, preparation of drawings, schedules of quantities, cost estimates, liaison with various clients. Danie also has experience in the development and design of industrial infrastructure in the mining sector. 

Countries of work experience include South Africa, Australia, Botswana, Mozambique, Papua New Guinea, Burkina Faso and Kenya.

Anneliese has 27 years’ experience as a cartographer with expertise in geotechnical, environmental, mining and survey mapping, master planning, open space and employment node studies.

She has led and managed teams of people to deliver digital mapping using CAD and GIS platforms and geotechnical investigation documentation for engineering solutions.

Experienced in multiple drafting packages to create clear and accurate outputs for hard copy and digital formats.

Working across teams, disciplines and client standards for a desired outcome.  Able to provide leadership, decision making, training, mentoring and knowledge sharing in a collaborative environment.

With 16 years of experience as an engineering drafter, Nicolene has developed extensive expertise across civil, electrical, telecommunication, and architectural sectors.

Her career reflects an in-depth understanding of engineering principles to be applied in engineering drawings.

Nicolene’s strong capability in interpreting complex engineering drawings and sketches further highlights her technical acumen and dedication to excellence.
